Barolo 'Cerretta - Vigna Bricco' Elio Altare 2011

Barolo Vigna Cerretta by Elio Altare embodies the values of a production designed to enhance the specificity of the Nebbiolo grape through its interaction with a cru of Serralunga d'Alba highly suited and a constructive dialogue with the innovation of winemaking style. Elio Altare, having succeeded his father in running the family farm in La Morra, introduced important innovations in the production setting, borrowing techniques and guidelines with French influences, starting from reduced plant density, low yields per hectare, maceration with a high level of aromatic extraction in the short term and aging in barriques. The immediate result was the creation of a series of Barolo crus by the high symbolic value for the area of Serralunga d'Alba, capable of attracting the attention of international audiences for their elegance and aromatic finesse. Within this range stands out Barolo Vigna Cerretta, made from some of the most characteristic vineyards on the right side of the Serralunga d'Alba backbone, with an optimal exposure to South-East and a limestone-clay soil able to donate aromatic complexity to the wines produced here. With a long aging in barriques of Allier, the Elio Altare's Barolo Vigna Cerretta is a warm and round wine, with subtle hints of fruit and gentle tannins, characterized by a long lingering taste and a wide and fascinating range of scents.
