Barolo Ravera is a true institution of Elvio Cogno's winery, owner of fascinating vineyards in the territory of Novello, in the east of the Barolo DOCG. The Cogno company, following the footsteps of the master Elvio, has always pursued a clear aim: to produce wines that can trace the history of the family, preserving the traditions and the style typical of the Langhe. The great wines of Elvio Cogno come to life in the old barn of a farmhouse remodeled to face significant challenges in winemaking. Through a careful and rational management of vineyards, without any extremism or force, with low yields per hectare while maintaining the correct attention for the biological cycle of the grapes, Valter Fissore and Nadia Cogno grow only local varieties, with a focus on the production of Nebbiolo for Barolo, in a unique terroir. In this beautiful landscape of bright green hills and deep blue sky was created Barolo Ravera, on the omonymous hill that houses the eighteenth-century manor house of the Cogno family, recently subjected to an architectural renovation, along with 11 hectares of vineyards. The cru Ravera, regarded as the most important in the area of Novello, benefits of a mainly calcareous soil and historical vineyards, able to transfer to the Barolo produced here aromatic finesse, elegance, structure and longevity. The result is a Barolo which is strong in the early years of life, but able to survive to the test of the years with the achievement of an extraordinary complexity in scents and flavors. The long fermentation and the careful selection of grapes in the vineyard help to enhance the features of Nebbiolo, ensuring that all its skills are at their best after a period of aging in bottle. For all these reasons, Barolo Ravera by Elvio Cogno is the authoritative witness of a prestigious terroir, which brings to the highest quality peaks the typicity of the Langhe.
