Falanghina 'Bonea' Masseria Frattasi 2014

Masseria Frattasi is a piece of wine history in the heart of Sannio, where Falanghina survived the dark period of phylloxera, in the same spot where in the '60s you could find was the last enclave of this variety, grown at the southern part of the Taburno limestone massif. Today, around the imposing white-stoned building dating back to the XVIII century that identifies Masseria Frattasi, is possible to see the same Falanghina vineyards of the past, which here finds the classic identification of "Bonea" because from this countryside town it traditionally originated. The one of Masseria Frattasi is pure mountain agriculture: a maze of ridges that descend steeply to the plains, where the cold north winds meet the sea breeze, giving to the vine a very special microclimate. In this area, the vines live together with vast forests of elms, beeches and maples, climbing with their “woody arms” on the tops of the trees as typical in the traditional farming system of "tennecchia", born thanks to the Etruscans and remained intact over the centuries. In the shadow of Taburno the torrid heat of midday anticipates torrential rains and cold nights ahead regardless of the season, giving back perfumed grapes by definition: the same aromatic richness is found in Falanghina Bonea, summed up by a mineral content that recalls the loamy calcareous soils of Sannio. In the Falanghina Bonea produced by Masseria Frattasi stands out, in short, a great ability to capitalize on the heroism of mountain viticulture, with a flawless stylistic accuracy and a long and rich run in the tasting.
